The conversation unfolded after Boy Abunda asked Cai about her stance on divorce, prompting the actress to explain why she believes that people and relationships can change over time.
Before expressing her position, Cai pointed out that change is a natural part of life and that people are not exempt from it. She explained that even relationships that begin with certainty may eventually take a different direction if respect and proper treatment disappear. According to her, individuals should have the courage to choose themselves when they are no longer being treated well.
"Alam naman nating the only constant in this world is change. At ang tao, hindi exception diyan- ang tao nagbabago. So hindi naman imposible na sa kalagitnaan ng pagkatapos mong maging sobrang sure na ito na iyong tao para sa iyo, kalagitnaan may magbago. Hindi mo nagustuhan ang pagtatrato sa'yo. Lalong-lalo na kung wala nang respeto sa'yo. Naniniwala akong you can stand for yourself and you can say no. and you can say I deserve better."

Boy then turned to Rez and asked whether he shared his daughter's perspective.
The veteran actor immediately revealed that he did not agree, explaining that his belief is rooted in his Catholic faith. Rez said he and his wife, Candy, are members of the Catholic Renewal Group and continue to uphold the sanctity of marriage.
"No. kasi kami ni Candy (Rex's wife), we are members of the Catholic Renewal Group at naniniwala kami napag nag-asawa ka 'What God put together, let no one put asunder.'"
While acknowledging her father's beliefs, Cai raised the issue of abusive relationships, saying that there are situations where a spouse experiences violence or abuse.
"I respect that. Pero paano kung binubugbog, kung inaabuso?"
Rez then asked his daughter if she had personally experienced such abuse.
"Binugbog ka ba?"
Cai clarified that she was speaking in general terms and not referring to herself. She also reacted to the personal nature of her father's question.
"Hindi naman ako iyong pinag-uusapan, in general. Personalan talaga ito? Gusto mo sagutin ko ngayon?"
Boy then stepped in to point out that the key takeaway from their exchange was Cai's respect for her father's opinion despite their opposing views.
"They key word here is ginagalang mo iyong opinion ng dad."
Responding to Boy, Cai explained that she understands where her parents' beliefs come from because of their religious upbringing. At the same time, she expressed gratitude that when she ultimately decided she could no longer continue with her own marriage, her father accepted her decision after initially asking whether the relationship could still be repaired.
"Yes kasi iyon ang turo sa kanila. Kaya sobrang thankful ako sa parents ko because ganun na iyong paniniwala nila pero nung time na sinabi ko na hindi ko na kaya, tinatanong pa rin niya baka maayos pa. Pero when I really decided na 'no, enough is enough', tinanggap niya."
Rex also revealed, "Kami na ang gumawa ng paraan para palayasin 'yung lalaki sa bahay."
The exchange highlighted the contrast between the father and daughter's views on divorce while also showing that they continue to respect each other's perspectives despite their differences. Cai defended the idea of leaving relationships marked by abuse or the loss of respect, while Rez maintained his belief in the permanence of marriage based on his Catholic faith. Their conversation with Boy also underscored how family members can hold opposing opinions on sensitive issues while still supporting one another's personal decisions.
