During a special screening of Bad Boy 3 in Quezon City on Friday, Mariel addressed questions about the political criticism frequently directed at Robin. According to her, she has learned to stay strong despite the public attention and negative comments.
“I don’t get affected like how people would like or think I would. No. With everything thrown our way, kung mahina ako, baka. But I am surprised with how strong I am,” she said.
She added that her perspective has changed with age and experience, allowing her to place greater trust in her faith.

“At this point, makakapitan mo is everything is God’s will. Siguro sa age ko na din—ipagpapasa Diyos mo na talaga,” she explained.
Mariel also revealed that Robin himself remains calm despite criticism and political controversies.
“Robin is really great. Robin is good. Sobra. Before, he would tell me wag ko bigyan ng oras. Sa kanya ko natutunan,” she said.
While many might assume politics dominates their conversations at home, Mariel said that is far from reality. She disclosed that discussions about Robin’s work are actually rare, with most of their attention centered on their children and family life.
“It is always about our children. Ang dami niya na nakausap tungkol doon. So minsan na lang,” she shared.
According to Mariel, the most important thing she asks her husband is whether he is doing well.
“My question is always— ‘are you OK?’” she said.
“If he tells me he is OK, we are all good. OK na. Ganon lagi pag sinabi niya OK, hindi na ako kailang mag aalala kasi sinabi niya.”
The television personality emphasized that despite the political noise outside their home, their family continues to live normally.
“We do our normal everyday thing. Politika lang naman lahat ng magulo. Kami OK kami. Hindi kami magulo. Politika lang magulo,” she said.
Mariel likewise reaffirmed her commitment to standing by her husband through both favorable and difficult times.
“I make sure we have a healthy meal, something home cooked. Yung gusto niya,” she shared.
“Always naman we stand by his principles and courage. We pray for him and his safety.”
For Mariel, maintaining a strong family foundation, prioritizing their children, and relying on faith remain her guiding principles amid the challenges that come with public life.
