Veteran actress Janice de Belen opened up about her reaction to the live-in arrangement of her daughter, Inah de Belen, and actor Jake Vargas, revealing that she was never against their relationship despite concerns she initially had as a parent.

During a conversation with Boy Abunda, Janice was asked directly whether she had opposed Inah’s relationship with Jake. The actress responded by explaining that she did not believe it was her place to decide the future of the couple’s relationship.
“I was not against their relationship dahil hindi naman ako ang kanilang makakasama. Ano ang karapatan kong maging against their relationship? I’m no saint. So alam ko iyong kontra din iyong nanay ko o kontra din iyong tatay ko. So I know how it feels for them. My point at the time was let’s do it right. It was very tumultuous for a while until things fell into place. Okay na. Ah, okay naman pala.”
Janice acknowledged that her perspective was influenced by her own experiences growing up. Having gone through situations where parents disagreed with certain choices, she said she understood how it felt to be on the receiving end of disapproval.

“Kasi ‘pag parents tayo, diba? Kaya rin siguro tayo nagiging ganyan. We are always worried about ano iyong sasabihın nila. Ano ang sasabihin ng kapitbahay? Ano’ng klaseng nanay ito? Whether we like it or not, we think that way eh. Ayokong sabihin nila na ganito. Then after a while, eh buhay ko ito eh. Eh, ano pakialam nila?”
