Pepe recalled a moment back in the day when his wife, Sarah Mallari, felt scared by his changed behavior.
"There was a time, naalala ko yung misis ko, natakot siya. Kasi hindi niya kilala kung sino yung kinakausap niya," Pepe revealed. Adding to that revelation, Pepe said, "Tapos hindi ko siya namamalayan, bro. Parang kusa siyang dumadaloy sa akin and it just becomes a part of me."

Pepe admitted that before getting married, he would often find himself developing feelings for his leading ladies during shoots, which would naturally fade right after the final day of filming. However, taking on intense and darker characters proved to be a completely different struggle.
"Pagdating sa mga roles na may kabigatan, nadadala ko rin yung bigat na kailangan ko talaga siyang ipagpag with a professional or with nature for weeks," Pepe explained to Edward.
Once his wife pointed out how much the characters were affecting him, Pepe realized the importance of mindful boundaries in his craft.
"Nung nasabihan ako and then nung napansin ko yun, I tried to be more aware. 'Paano ko ito ipapagpag?' And also, naging mas choosy ako sa roles," he shared.
Avid listeners of the podcast praised Pepe for his vulnerability, highlighting how his honesty shines a necessary light on mental health and emotional decompression in the performing arts industry.
As previously reported by KAMI in 2025, Pepe Herrera withdrew from Your Face Sounds Familiar due to depression and anxiety. In a video statement, he shared that these struggles date back to his teenage years. Panic attacks and sleep problems recently forced him to take action. He plans to focus on healing and urges others to prioritize their mental health.
Meanwhile, in 2022, Pepe Herrera, in a social media post, reminisced about the goodness that Susan Roces showed him when the veteran actress was still alive. The two used to work together in the TV action series, ‘Ang Probinsyano.' The comedian said that he loves to make Susan laugh because it’s so easy to make her crack up. He then gave a touching tribute to the veteran actress, whom he lovingly referred to as “Lola Flora.”
