Giving back to the parents who sacrificed everything is a dream for many athletes, and former PBA star Marc Pingris made sure his mother was his absolute top priority the moment he made it to the professional league.
During an appearance on the talk show House of D with host Dina Bonnevie and his wife, Danica Sotto-Pingris, the basketball veteran opened up about what he did with his first-ever PBA earnings.

"First salary ko sa PBA, at proud ako, birthday niya, binilhan ko siya ng house and lot," Marc shared.
When Dina expressed surprise at how his first paycheck could immediately cover a house and lot, Marc explained the big move he made behind the scenes just to make sure it would happen as well.

"Hindi, Ma, nag-advance kasi ako ng three years," Marc recalled with a laugh. "First salary ko yung sinabi ko sa manager kong si Tito Ed, 'Tito,' kako, 'mag-advance tayo ng three years. Gusto ko talagang bilhan ng house and lot yung mother ko, birthday niya next week, parang ganun.' So ang ginawa namin, kinausap namin yung team, salamat naman at pinagbigyan ako."
To make the milestone even more unforgettable, Marc planned a clever surprise for his mother.
He added how his mother initially worried about walking into a vacant home before realizing the truth:
"Pagpasok namin doon, walang tao. 'Baka mapagkamalan magnanakaw tayo' ganyan. Tapos pagkaharap niya sa akin may susi ako: 'Ma, happy birthday.'"
The heartwarming story drew smiles and touched the hearts of the hosts and viewers, serving as an inspiring reminder of a son's genuine gratitude and lifelong love for his mother.
Marc Pingris is a professional basketball player who became one of the most recognizable and successful forwards in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Beyond basketball, Marc is also known for his family life and media presence. He is married to Danica Sotto, the daughter of Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie, and they have three children together.
