It can be recalled that news of Barbie’s sudden demise shocked the Asian entertainment industry.

This is because Barbie is a popular actress and is best known for and well-loved by many for her role in the Asian hit series, “Meteor Garden.”

When news of her death started trickling online, many dismissed it as fake news.

However, on Monday, Barbie’s sister, Dee Hsu, came out with a statement through her agency and confirmed the death of the popular actress, which she said was caused by pneumonia.

Apparently, Barbie caught influenza while on a trip in Japan for the Lunar New Year, which later on developed into pneumonia.

The one person who was truly shocked by it all was no other than DJ Koo Jun-yup, the Korean husband of Barbie.

Many followed their eventful love story, which began in 1998.

At the time, DJ Koo is busy with his commitments as a member of the K-pop duo, CLON.

Barbie and DJ Koo dated for over a year but broke up in the year 2000, mainly because both were too busy with their schedules and also because the entertainment agency where the latter was under didn’t allow him to date.

Later in 2010, Barbie married Chinese businessman Wáňg Xiaofei, though their relationship ended with a divorce in 2021.

In 2022, Barbie and DJ Koo rekindled their past flame and went back together again.

The two were a happy couple and living with their children when Barbie met her untimely demise.

It might be because of this that DJ Koo let out a heartbreaking statement.

“I lost her again, this time forever,” DJ Koo, in a heartbreaking statement, said.

The Taiwanese actress has reportedly dealt with epilepsy and was hospitalized due to it. GMA News reported that she also suffers from a heart disease called mitral valve prolapse. One can recall that the "Meteor Garden" actress made headlines after news of her passing was made public.

The news of the passing of the Taiwanese actress at the age of 48, was confirmed by her family, according to an article by Asia One. Also, in an article by Focus Taiwan, the tragic news was also confirmed by her sister on Monday through her agent. According to reports, Barbie Hsu succumbed to pneumonia after getting it during their Japan tour for the Chinese New Year period. Barbie Hsu became popularly known as 'Shan Cai' in the 2001 Taiwan TV drama series 'Meteor Garden' where she was the leading lady of another Taiwan star Jerry Yan.
