In a social media post on Friday, October 16, Troy emphasized that bullying should not be excused as humor, especially when it targets people with special needs.
“There is nothing funny about bullying. Calling it 'dark humor' doesn't make it any less hurtful, especially when a person with special needs is the target.
People with special needs may already face challenges while navigating everyday life. The last thing they deserve is to be made fun of, singled out, or treated differently for something that is beyond their control.”

Troy also shared how the issue hits close to home, given that he is a father of a daughter on the autism spectrum. He said he felt responsible for speaking up not only for his own child but also for others who may not have the voice or ability to defend themselves.
“As a father of a daughter on the autism spectrum, this hits close to home. I feel a responsibility to speak up, not only for my own child, but for every person with special needs who may not yet have the voice or ability to stand up for themselves.”
He further underscored the importance of teaching children to treat others with compassion and respect rather than making them feel ashamed of their differences.
“We should be teaching our children empathy, kindness, and acceptance, not making anyone feel that being different is something to be ashamed of.”
Troy and his wife, actress Aubrey Miles, have a daughter named Rocket Miller, who has special needs.

Although Troy did not mention anyone by name in his post, his statement came amid discussions surrounding a viral podcast that drew criticism for insensitive remarks about Josh Aquino, the eldest son of actress Kris Aquino, who has special needs.
Troy's message highlighted the need to treat people with special needs with dignity and understanding, emphasizing that differences should never be a reason for ridicule or discrimination.
Kris Aquino is a well-known Filipino television host, actress, and producer who comes from a prominent political family. She is the youngest daughter of the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino, as well as the sister of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. Dubbed the “Queen of All Media,” she has hosted numerous television programs and starred in popular horror films, including “Feng Shui” and “Sukob.”
As previously reported by KAMI, Mark Leviste expressed his support for Josh amid the controversy surrounding the viral podcast. He denounced the remarks directed at Kris’ eldest son and voiced his outrage over the incident. Mark stressed that those involved should go beyond issuing an apology by taking responsibility for their actions and implementing concrete measures to ensure that a similar incident does not happen again.
Meanwhile, Dindo Balares, a close friend of Kris, defended Josh after he was referred to as “walang kuwenta” on the controversial podcast. The retired journalist posted a photo with Josh, describing him as gentle, loving, and respectful. He also acknowledged those who willingly look after Josh whenever Kris travels abroad for medical treatment. Dindo further advised Kris to let her lawyers handle the matter to help ease the stress caused by the controversy.
