During his guest appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the singer and music executive was asked about the controversy involving MRLD.

The issue gained attention after the artist reportedly raised concerns about receiving more than five percent in royalties from songs she wrote and co-produced.

Kean explained that the music business involves several sources of income and that the percentage being discussed was specifically connected to royalties from the original sound recording.

According to him, an artist's earnings can also come from live shows, publishing, and endorsements.

He added that management normally receives a different percentage when it comes to bookings.

"The management just gets 20 to 30%. 70 to 80% ang napupunta doon sa artista," he said.

When Boy asked how he felt about allegations that he had exploited MRLD, Kean admitted that the accusations were painful.

"Well, nakaka-hurt siya dahil parang ako, Tito, artist ako eh," he said.

He stressed that he and his wife wanted their record company to give artists creative freedom while helping them understand the professional side of their careers.

Kean also said he preferred addressing disagreements privately instead of allowing them to play out on social media.

"Kung may problema, kung may concerns, kung may negotiation, anything, punta ka sa opisina, usap tayo," he explained.

Later in the interview, Boy directly asked whether he believed he had been fair to the artist.

"Oo naman, Tito Boy. Wala kaming kinukuhang hindi dapat na kunin," Kean responded.

He added that they had supported the artist's career from the time she was still in Leyte and maintained that the company had done what it could to help her grow professionally.

"Malinis yung loob namin," he said while talking about the integrity of OC Records.

Aside from the management controversy, Kean also spoke about his relationship with his former Callalily bandmates.

He recalled that tension and friction had developed before his departure from the group in 2022. He said he wished their concerns had been discussed behind closed doors instead of becoming what he described as a "social media circus."

Asked about their relationship now, Kean said they remain civil, particularly when dealing with business matters connected to Callalily, including royalties.

However, he admitted that they have not reached the point of fully talking things through again.

"I think we are civil," he said, adding that communication between them currently revolves mainly around matters concerning the band.
