With more than 400k tweets, hashtag Shopee scam tops Twitter in the midst of Blackpink meet-and-greet issue yesterday.

In a report from ABS-CBN News (MJ Felipe, reporter) the organizers and Shopee have not yet given an official statement regarding this matter.

And there are no explanations about the mechanics of the promo.

According to reports, the fans of the all-girl-group from South Korea spent thousands of pesos just to maintain in the "top 40 spenders" and will get their autographs.

Also, in a report from ABS-CBN News (Rose Carmelle Lacuata, author), two fans of the popular K-pop group said they spent more than P100k in total just to maintain their spot in the top 40.

Mostly, items that they don't really need!

One of them said that Shoppe would post updates of who are included in the "top 40 spenders" every other day.

And as of Wednesday, the top 40th spot spent P80,000 already. Can we guess how much money the top five spent?

So the two girls, who requested to be anonymous expected that they will get the autographs of the popular Korean girls only to find out that they aren't included in the top 40 anymore.

"We were feeling so scammed and all that na parang nawala 'yung worth ng money namin," one of them told ABS-CBN.

While the other girl accepted that she could not get the autographs and just accepted her ticket, the other girl said she did not go the event to show how disappointed she was.

Later on, the girl learned that the 40th person on the leaderboard spent P109,000, which is bigger than what she spent.

"So Shopee seemed to have fixed it, but only the top 40. They said na the 40th person spent almost 109k. Mas mataas sa akin na 105k lang,"

"And yes, my decision was final. HINDI AKO PUPUNTA. Shopee gave me so much stress and anxiety and I cant be there neglecting those stuff. Iniisip ko nalang muna, hindi pa ito ang tamang panahon to meet them personally,"

In a previous report by KAMI, a public apology was issued by the online retailer to the people who were affected by the incident.
