Mitoy Yonting shares experience during Resorts World attack

Singer Mitoy Yonting shared his traumatic experience during the Resorts World attack early on Friday, June 2, where he was performing with his band.

According to Mitoy in his interview with ABS-CBN, they were performing in the groundfloor when they heard a gunshot from the second floor. People started to panic and rush out of the building.

He said:

"Sa ground floor kami, sa Bar 360 nagpe-perform. Sa second floor nangyari 'yung insidente pero noong nagtakbuhan na nga sa second floor pababa, nakita namin... Sa personal kong nakita ay 'yung nagtakbuhan na ang mga tao."

"At first kasi may mangilan-ngilan na kaming nakitang nagsuntukan doon, nag-away doon na players, nagkagulo. Kaya noong una ang impression ko baka may nagsuntukan na naman. Baka may nag-away na naman. Pero noong pangalawang bugso ng takbuhan, parang iba na. Tapos mayroon na kaming narinig na putok nga kasi second floor 'yon. Masyadong malaki ang lugar kaya 'yung tunog ng putok ay maririnig mo talaga na automatic rifle ang ginagamit."

They stopped their performance and got back to the dressing room where there was an emergency exit.

He added:

"Sabi ko nga sa mga tao, huwag kayong mag-alala, don't panic, para di magkagulo. Pero sabi ko nga, noong second wave na ng takbuhan ng tao, eh hindi na ako nagsalita. Bumaba kami, pinababa ko 'yung grupo, 'yung banda, at pumunta kami sa dressing room. Kasi sa dressing room, may exit at doon kami lumabas."

"Pero sa lakas ng putok eh bumalik na naman kami papasok. Tapos humahanap kami ng ibang direksyon palabas."

"Noong lumabas kami sa Duty Free sa may gilid ng mall, paglabas mismo namin ng Resorts World noong nasa kalsada kami, eto na naman, may takbuhan na naman. Parang mga tatlong beses kaming tumakbo at 'yun nga 'yung dalawang kasama ko. Dumiretso kami ng Villamor Air Base kasama ng siguro more or less mga 100 persons kaming nakapasok doon sa Villamor Air Base. Tapos ni-lock nila 'yung gate."

According to Mitoy, they got home at past 2:00 a.m. He left his car and their equipment and gadgets were still on stage.

He then reminded everyone to be alert and vigilant:

"Kasi kagabi na experience ko, lahat pwedeng mangyari kasi may mga galamay pa yan. I mean may sniper, nagpapakamatay para makapangdisgrasya, makapangdamay.
