Actress Arci Muñoz has announced she will vie for one of the seats in the municpal council in the town of Cainta in Rizal.

She will be part of PBA Legend Alvin Patrimonio's slate, who is eyeing the mayoralty post in the town.

According to a report by ABS-CBN, this would be the first time that the actress is running for an elected post.

This year, she also joined the Philippine Air Force reserve force and has been accepted into the unit with the rank of sergeant.

Prior to announcing her candidacy, there was hardly any talk about her political plans.

A Philippine Star report revealed that she was inducted into the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats’ party (Lakas-CMD) only a day before the official filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) commenced.

Both Arci's and Alvin's Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) papers were signed by the party's executive director, Pey Velasco.

House Majority Floorleader and Lakas-CMD party president, Martin Romualdez, called Arci and Alvin as the party's assets.

Manila Bulletin quoted Rep. Romualdez saying that their act of casting their lot with Lakas-CMD is enough proof that the two have great confidence in the party, as well as its principles.

“We regard these dedicated public servants as assets of the Lakas-CMD party. Their decision to join the Lakas-CMD party is not just a proof of their confidence in us but also of the party’s clean and efficient record of public service,” said House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, the party’s president.

Other celebrities became members of Lakas-CMD include veteran actress Alma Moreno, Comedian-actor Dexter "Teri Onor" Dominguez, Nash Aguas, Claudine Barretto, Bobby Andrews, Javi Benitez, Ejay Falcon, and Angelu de Leon.

She was first recognized in the showbiz industry when she joined the third season of the reality talent show StarStruck. Arci has starred in numerous films such as 'A Second Chance,' 'Always Be my Maybe,' and 'Camp Sawi.'

Recently, Arci showed off her new business, a Korean-Japanese restaurant called Yoshimeatsu. Her restaurant offers unlimited Korean and Japanese dishes for an affordable price. According to Arci, it has always been her dream to have her own restaurant. She was able to achieve it amidst the COVID-19 pandemic through the help of her friends.

Several weeks ago, she posted a very affecting personal prayer on social media about pain, grief, and suffering. In her prayer, Arci thanks the Lord for giving her hope for the future and for reminding her that her pain is temporary. She also shared that she has faith that God would take away all her pain and suffering one day. The actress and singer also shared a bible verse from the book of Isaia about God wiping away all tears.
