The segment took on a special format in celebration of Buwan ng Wika. Instead of simply speaking their messages, the “It’s Showtime” hosts were challenged to express their thoughts in poetic form.

When it was Ryan’s turn, the South Korean-born Filipino entertainer delivered a short verse about a former relationship that once appeared destined for marriage.

“Ako’y may dating kasintahan. At dati kaming nagmamahalan. Pero ’di pumayag ang tadhana. Kaya hindi kami nag-tuloy sa dambana,” Ryan said.

The brief message carried an emotional weight as Ryan recalled how he and his former fiancée had once been in love but ultimately did not make it to the altar.

His words appeared to bring back difficult memories, and Ryan became emotional after delivering the poem.

Seeing their co-host visibly affected by the moment, Ryan’s fellow “It’s Showtime” hosts immediately gathered around him. They embraced him and offered words and gestures of comfort as he processed the emotions brought about by the memory.

The moment provided a more vulnerable glimpse of Ryan, who is widely known for his energetic personality, humor and ability to entertain audiences on television.

His fellow hosts’ immediate response likewise highlighted the close relationship among the “It’s Showtime” family.

His relationship with Paola Huyong had previously been an important part of his personal life, particularly because the two had been engaged. However, their relationship ultimately did not result in marriage.

South Korean-born entertainer Ryan Bang became a familiar name in Philippine showbiz after finishing as a runner-up on “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash” in 2010. He eventually earned the affectionate description “Korean with a Pinoy Heart” and became a regular host of the popular variety program “It’s Showtime.” His career has expanded beyond television, as he has also established himself as an entrepreneur and comedic actor, including an appearance in the successful film “Beauty and the Bestie.”

Ryan previously made viewers laugh on “It’s Showtime” after announcing that he had obtained Permanent Residence, or PR, status in the Philippines. The announcement became even more amusing when he struggled to pronounce the word “residence,” repeatedly coming up with humorous variations such as “permanent res-band” and “res-dance.” Vice Ganda playfully joined in on the joke, suggesting that Ryan’s pronunciation might have prompted officials to reconsider his application. Despite the teasing, Vice also shared sincere thoughts about Ryan finally obtaining his permanent resident status in the country.

Earlier, Ryan Bang also gave his birthday celebration a charitable purpose, turning the occasion into an expression of hope and generosity. Rather than simply spending his savings on himself, he chose to use part of his hard-earned money to help rebuild a school community in Mindanao that had been affected by a calamity. The gesture transformed his personal milestone into an opportunity to support people facing difficult circumstances and demonstrated another side of the entertainer beyond his usual comedic persona.
