Chit died on August 17 at the age of 69, according to reports from Philstar and SunStar. The cause of her death was not stated in Sue’s latest post.

Earlier this year, the actress publicly asked for prayers and blood donors while her mother prepared to undergo open-heart surgery. Sue later spoke about the pain of seeing Chit in a serious condition, especially after her father had also experienced health problems before his passing in 2013.

Apart from being known as the actress’ mother, Chit had a long record of service in the labor movement. She served as vice president of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines and was the national president of the Confederation of Labor and Allied Social Services.

The TUCP honored her contribution to protecting the rights and welfare of Filipino workers. The group also remembered her as a loving mother who served as a source of strength and inspiration to her family.

Before sharing her longer farewell, Sue had posted a photo with Chit and simply wrote, “Mahal na mahal na mahal kita.” She also uploaded a rainy view from a vehicle and said that the sky was crying with her.

Sue Ramirez is a versatile Filipino-American actress who entered showbiz in 2010. Over the years, she has evolved from a young television hopeful into a powerhouse dramatic star, capturing audiences through memorable performances in hit series and acclaimed films.

Recently, Concepcion "Chit" Dodd, the cherished mother of Sue, sadly passed away on the evening of Monday, August 17, 2026. Earlier in the year, Sue courageously stood by her relatives to launch public appeals for compatible blood donors during her mother's critical heart operation. Beyond her connection to the entertainment industry, Mommy Chit earned widespread admiration throughout Negros as a dedicated trade union leader and relentless advocate for labor rights. Heartfelt tributes continue to flow in from regional officials and devoted supporters, honoring Sue and her bereaved loved ones during this painful period of mourning.

It can be recalled that in January of this year, Sue’s mom prepared to face a high-stakes open-heart surgical procedure scheduled for January 7, 2026. The family issued an urgent plea for compatible blood donors with specific blood types who had abstained from alcohol for at least two days. Sue's mother remarkably raised five children entirely on her own after her husband suffered a debilitating stroke more than twenty years prior.
