Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso's chief of staff, Cesar Chavez, recently publicized his resignation from the mayor’s team.

Chavez announced the news via lengthy Facebook post on October 13, a few months away before the official start of the campaign for the 2022 elections.

In his post, Chavez cited an offer from Manila Broadcasting Company he received in March. He also thanked Moreno for supporting his decision.

“MBC management has actually offered me a position as early as March this year, and this was announced in a general staff mtg of DZRH about 6 months ago. I told Mayor Isko about the offer, and my intention to accept the same. Salamat Yorme sa pag-unawa, at pagkatataon makapagtrabaho sa Maynila. Napakaraming magagaling at matitino sa city hall. Maraming salamat sa inyo.”

Chavez, who started as a radio announcer before entering government, furthermore said he is elated to be back to his “first love” which is radio broadcasting.

“So happy to be back to my first love, radio broadcasting. Am done now with my other love, the govt. After having been appointed 12x by 6 successive Philippine presidents, and experienced to do the right things in 2 LGUs - Caloocan and Manila - I committed to MBC management that I intend to stay with the company until my retirement age.”

Isko Moreno is a politician and a former actor who is currently the Mayor of Manila. He is married to Diana Lynn Ditan and they have five children. The popular mayor is tagged by voters as a potential frontrunner in the 2022 Presidential Elections.

Moreno has been one of the most talked-about topics on social media lately due to his pronouncements against Vice President Leni Robredo. He accused Robredo of running just because of the Marcoses and even used words like yellowtards.

In August, Moreno tested positive for COVID-19. The Mayor's result came after the Vice Mayor of Manila, Honey Lacuna, also tested positive for the viral disease.
