Kuya Kim Atienza revealed on his social media account that he was in Itaewon, South Korea when the tragic stampede took place.

The GMA reporter covered the incident, showing the aftermath of the stampede that happened during the annual Halloween festivities in Itaewon.

According to Atienza, 151 died in the stampede and most of them were 20 years old or younger, with 17 foreigners included in the casualties.

October 30 was declared a national day of mourning in South Korea, with all Halloween events and parties canceled.

Kuya Kim Atienza is the son of Lito Atienza, a well-known politician. He is famous for his broad knowledge and love for animals. He worked as a politician from 1995 till 2004. He became the weather anchor of ABS-CBN newscast, "TV Patrol", and also hosted the educational show "Matanglawin" on the same network. Kuya Kim was also a host for the popular noontime variety show, "It's Showtime". In 2021, Kuya Kim officially became a Kapuso.
