An eight-year-old girl was injured after a motorcycle rider and his passenger allegedly threw a hard object at the tricycle carrying her and her mother in Antipolo City.

The object struck the child’s head, leaving a wound that had to be stitched at a hospital. Her mother has filed a complaint, while authorities continue to look for the two people on the motorcycle.

According to a report by Marisol Abdurahman on GMA News’ State of the Nation, the incident followed an argument as the mother and daughter were trying to board a tricycle.

Police said the motorcycle was blocking their way. The child reportedly asked the rider to move so they could get in, but he allegedly said he could not back up.

The tricycle moved forward to make room for them. The mother then called the rider rude, and the exchange grew heated. Police said a hard object was later thrown toward the tricycle and hit the girl. Investigators had yet to determine whether the object was a stone or a piece of cement.

Video shown in the report captured part of the argument and the motorcycle following the tricycle. Another clip showed the child bleeding as she was taken for medical care. The footage also showed the rider holding a cellphone with one hand while steering with the other.

The girl was brought to a hospital, where doctors stitched the wound on her forehead. Police later identified the rider and his passenger, but officers did not find them when they went to their reported address. As of the GMA report, the two were still being sought.

The mother filed a complaint involving physical injury or physical abuse in relation to Republic Act 7610, the law protecting children against abuse. Speaking to the rider and passenger in the report, she urged them to surrender.

“Mas mabuti pang sumuko na lang kayo kaysa magtago kayo kasi viral na kayo,” she said. “Sobra ’yung ginawa niyo sa bata.”

The Land Transportation Office has issued a show cause order and directed the rider and passenger to appear on September 29. The rider’s license has been suspended, and the motorcycle has been placed under alarm status, according to GMA News. The order also calls for an explanation of possible driving violations seen in the footage.

Police said the 52-year-old owner was sleeping when he woke up and noticed that someone was allegedly taking his fighting rooster. He then confronted the man. During the encounter, the owner reportedly struck him in the head with a hardened piece of cement.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man fled after emergency alarms sounded while he was allegedly trying to enter a house in Barangay San Roque, Angono, Rizal. The incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a report by EJ Gomez on GMA’s Unang Balita. CCTV footage showed a man wearing a cap climbing the stairs leading to the house. He stood near the gate and appeared ready to open it when an alarm suddenly went off.
