Liza Marcos, 66, serves as the First Lady of the Philippines and is also a lawyer and educator. Born in Manila and belonging to the influential Araneta and Cacho clans, she earned her degrees from Ateneo de Manila University and New York University. Aside from her duties as the wife of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., she remains active as a law professor and a partner in a legal firm. She and the President are parents to three sons—Sandro, Simon, and Vincent.
In another development, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that the individual identified by an 11-year-old girl from Camarines Sur is already in police custody. The child had earlier written a letter to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., detailing alleged acts of abuse, harassment, and intimidation that she and her family experienced in their community. In response, the President assured that the young victim and her sisters would be provided with police protection and assistance for their education. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), meanwhile, is offering various forms of support to the family, including psycho-emotional interventions, financial assistance, and legal services.
Meanwhile, Malacañang dismissed speculation surrounding President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s health after his absence from an event for Overseas Filipino Workers sparked rumors online. Palace officials emphasized that the Chief Executive remains in good condition and explained that the concerns arose after he was unable to attend the gathering. The Palace also noted that the President had been diagnosed with diverticulitis in January 2026.
