According to a report by GMA News' Saksi, the foreign national went to Project 4 Police Station to report that he had supposedly been robbed of a bag containing his passport, important documents, and cash.

Police officers immediately found some details of the complaint unusual. The area where the alleged incident supposedly happened was only a few hundred meters away from the police station. The foreigner initially claimed that two young men riding a motorcycle robbed him, adding that the back rider was "half-n@ked."

"Ang medyo naalarma po kami kasi yung lugar na sinabi niya is within 300 meters away lang dito sa police station," a police officer said in the report.

Authorities conducted hours of CCTV backtracking in the area where the supposed robbery allegedly took place. Despite their efforts, they found no evidence supporting the foreigner's account.

"Wala po kaming nakita na sign man lang na dumaan siya kasi ang kwento po niya naglakad siya from Cubao papunta po dito sa Project 4," the officer explained.

Police also questioned his claim that he walked to the station after the alleged robbery. CCTV footage reportedly showed him arriving on a motorcycle outside the police station, raising even more doubts about his story.

As the investigation continued, authorities eventually uncovered the truth.

According to police, the foreign national later admitted that he had not lost his passport through robbery. Instead, he was allegedly worried because his passport was set to expire in four months.

Authorities said he believed reporting a robbery would help him secure an emergency passport from his embassy, allowing him to travel sooner.

The foreigner eventually admitted his actions during questioning.

"I made the story to give me emergency travel because I need to go," he said.

When asked directly if he had actually been robbed, he replied that there was no snatching incident and that nobody took his belongings.

Following his admission, the suspect was placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District at Camp Karingal.

He is now facing a perjury complaint. The QCPD has also coordinated with the Italian Embassy and the Bureau of Immigration regarding the next steps involving the foreign national.

The report was aired on GMA News Saksi and was filed by reporter Bea Pinlac.
