A woman died after a huge rock crashed into their home in Barangay Mascap, Rodriguez, Rizal, according to a report by Unang Balita.

The incident happened during heavy rains last Sunday. Based on the report, large rocks suddenly rolled down from a steep part of the mountain and struck the family’s house.
The impact reportedly punched holes through both sides of the house. Several belongings inside were also destroyed after the rocks entered their home.
Despite the danger, the woman still managed to save her two children before she was seriously injured. According to the report, she pushed the children away to protect them from the rolling rocks.

The children survived the incident but suffered minor injuries. Their father was reportedly at work when the tragedy happened.
The woman was rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries to her body and legs. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Following the incident, barangay officials advised residents in the area to temporarily evacuate. Authorities said more rocks could still fall from the mountain, especially if heavy rains continue.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources or DENR will also conduct an assessment of the area to determine if it remains safe for nearby residents.
Many people online also expressed sadness over the woman’s death after learning that she prioritized saving her children before herself.
