A man wanted for a r*pe case was arrested after applying for an NBI clearance in Iligan City, according to a report by 24 Oras Weekend.

The report said the man’s records were checked during the processing of his NBI clearance application. Authorities then discovered that he had an outstanding warrant of arrest connected to a r*pe case.

After the information appeared in the system, officials conducted a verification process. The suspect’s name, case details, address, and court records reportedly matched the warrant issued by the court.

According to the report, the man admitted that he had a pending case. However, he allegedly believed that the matter had already been resolved, which was why he still proceeded with his NBI clearance application.

The video report from GMA Integrated News also showed authorities taking the suspect into custody after confirming his records.

The report did not disclose additional details about the r*pe case or how long the warrant had been active. The suspect’s camp has also not released any statement regarding the incident.

Authorities said the man will remain under the custody of the NBI Iligan District Office while waiting for commitment proceedings and official instructions from the court.

An NBI clearance is one of the most commonly required documents in the Philippines for employment, travel, and other legal transactions. Through the agency’s verification process, pending cases and active warrants can also be identified.
