On May 14, Lapus took to X (formerly Twitter) where he shared a blunt and provocative question about Diehard Duterte Supporters or DDS. In his post, he asked,
“Seryosong tanong, may pogi bang DDS? Yung ex ko pumanget nong naging DDS.”
His statement, which suggested a noticeable change in his former partner after becoming a DDS, became the center of heated discussion across social media platforms.

Lapus also added another statement in the same post, saying,
“Dedma na sila sa sinasabi at sasabihin ng mga tao! Kadiri.”
The post further escalated when netizens began sharing their own opinions and experiences, leading to divided reactions in the comment section. Some echoed similar sentiments, while others defended DDS supporters and called out Lapus for generalizing.
Another remark from Lapus that also circulated online stated,
“For sure may socmed ang mga anak nila. Ano kaya nararamdaman nila sa nababasa nilang reaction ng mga tao sa pinag gagawa ng parents nila? Kawawa.”
