"Rotational brownout ng Meralco. Hanggang kailan?! Kung kailan napaka sukdulan ng init ang panahon. Hay…"

Her remarks sparked mixed reactions online, with many netizens also sharing their own frustrations over the recurring power interruptions.

According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), the Luzon grid was placed under red and yellow alert due to thin power reserves caused by forced outages and scheduled maintenance shutdowns of several power plants, including facilities in Bataan.

To prevent a more widespread blackout, authorities implemented manual load dropping or rotational brownouts in affected areas.

Meralco confirmed that millions of customers across Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, and nearby provinces experienced power interruptions lasting around two to three hours.

The NGCP further explained that the surge in electricity demand during extreme heat, combined with reduced power plant availability, led to tighter supply conditions across the Luzon grid.

As temperatures continue to rise, consumers remain concerned about the possibility of further scheduled outages in the coming days.
