A woman in Cagayan de Oro City died after giving birth alone inside her rented room in a boarding house in Barangay Bulua.

The woman was found by fellow tenants inside the restroom, already dead and covered in blood. Responders later discovered her newborn in the room. The baby survived and is now in the care of the authorities.

According to Cagayan de Oro City Police Office spokesperson Emilita Simon, initial investigation showed no signs of foul play. Authorities believe the woman delivered the baby by herself without any assistance.

Police findings revealed that she also cut the baby’s umbilical cord by herself, which may have caused severe bleeding that led to her death.

The spokesperson explained that the woman likely headed to the restroom after excessive blood loss, where she died.

The investigation shed light on her personal situation. Authorities learned she once had a live-in partner, but they eventually parted ways after the man found out he was not the baby’s father.

Police are now working to locate the woman’s relatives. Reports say her parents have already died, making it harder to quickly find a relative who can claim her remains and help with the arrangements.

He then fired multiple shots at the occupants before quickly returning to the motorcycle driven by his accomplice. The suspects immediately fled toward EDSA after the shooting. Authorities confirmed that the victims were a 51-year-old driver and his 75-year-old companion. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident.
