The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds.
According to Police Captain Febie Madrid, spokesperson for the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the discovery was made after a concerned citizen reported a suspicious SUV that had been parked for an extended period along Mindanao Avenue Extension.
“May nagsumbong na concerned citizen dun sa naka-park na vehicle na SUV dito sa kahabaan ng Mindanao Avenue Extension,” P/Capt. Madrid said.

She said a security guard had noticed the vehicle and alerted the authorities. Upon opening the SUV, officers found the lifeless body of the doctor.
“Napansin kasi ng security guard na matagal nang naka-park doon ang sasakyan. Dumulog na po siya sa pulisya and then doon napag-alaman na nung binuksan ang sasakyan, ay meron pong nakatambad na, yung biktima na lifeless na at may mga natamong saksak sa katawan,” the QCPD spokesperson added.
Crucially, the victim’s vehicle was equipped with a dashcam, which played a pivotal role in the swift apprehension of the suspect.
Investigators reviewed the dashcam footage and were able to ascertain that the doctor had picked up a male individual along Mindanao Avenue.
During the ride, the camera inadvertently captured the stabbing incident.
P/Capt. Madrid explained that the altercation between the doctor and the suspect inside the vehicle likely caused the camera to shift, ultimately recording the fatal assault and providing a visual identification of the perpetrator.
“So napag-alaman din sa imbestigasyon na itong ah, through sa dashcam video, ay napag-alaman na itong biktima ay huling nakita na may pinik-up dito sa kahabaan ng Mindanao Avenue and it happened na na-capture ang pananaksak dahil nagalaw,” Capt. Madrid said.
“Siguro nung nagkabunuan sila sa loob ng itong suspek at biktima ay nasagi kaya napaharap at doon na-identify. And nag-conduct agad ng follow-up operation ang mga operatiba ng Quezon City Police District at dito napag-alaman na ito pong suspek ay nasa area lang,” she added.
Following the review of the dashcam footage, QCPD operatives immediately launched a follow-up operation.
Their efforts led them to an area where the suspect was believed to be located. The operation proved successful, resulting in the arrest of the individual identified in the video.
During the arrest, authorities recovered several items belonging to the victim in the suspect's possession.
These included the doctor's ATM card and a nail cutter, which was positively identified by the victim's driver.
“Dito nga nagresulta sa pag-aresto nitong suspek and upon the arrest of the suspect, ay dito nakuha sa kanya, in his possession itong mga gamit ng biktima, particularly ang kanyang ATM, at ang nail cutter na positively identified ng kanyang driver,” QCPD Spokesperson Capt. Madrid said.
Based on the evidence gathered, including the dashcam footage and the recovered personal belongings, the QCPD has filed a case of robbery with h0micide against the arrested suspect.
The authorities are continuing their investigation to gather further details about the encounter between the doctor and the suspect and to fully understand the motive behind the crime.
The quick resolution of the case is attributed to the crucial evidence provided by the victim's dashcam and the swift action of the Quezon City police.
