A man was beaten by an angry crowd after he kidnapped and held hostage a two-year-old girl at a public market in Parañaque City on Sunday.

The police officer who arrested him was also injured during the incident.
CCTV footage captured the dramatic moment when a man suddenly grabbed another in Barangay Don Galo.
The latter, a plainclothes officer, had cornered the suspect after a chase and was then joined by residents who mobbed the suspect.

Before the scuffle, the 43-year-old suspect was seen on CCTV entering the Bulungan Public Market around noon.

Seconds later, he was already carrying the child, who had been standing next to her parents.
Bystanders tried to intervene but were unable to approach closely as the suspect pointed a knife at the child.
“Biglang napasugod dito 'yung tatay mismo ng bata at humingi po ng saklolo sa amin,” said Police Lieutenant Mardizon Perie.
“Dala-dala kasi nila 'yung anak nila do'n. Biglang napadaan itong suspek at biglang tinangay 'yung anak nila,” he added.
It took over an hour before Patrolman Samuel Melad successfully rescued the child on a bridge in Don Galo, a kilometer away. Melad was injured while stopping the mob and retrieving the knife.
“Masaya kasi safe 'yung bata... Kasi nu'ng nasa tulay po, nasa isip ko, itatapon niya 'yung bata doon sa may dagat,” said Melad.
The suspect, new to Metro Manila and emotionally distressed over a separation, expressed regret:
“Siyempre, 'di ko gusto na maghiwalay kami ng asawa ko.”
“Sobra, sir, ang pagsisisi ko.”

Thereafter, a rider moved closer to him, and the rider instantaneously grabbed the cellphone and sped off. The driver from where the dashcam video was recorded tried to go after the rider, but the latter was very fast and the driver was caught in traffic.

Meanwhile, a mother was arrested after she allegedly offered an online live show involving her 13-year-old son in Caloocan City. Based on the report of ABS-CBN, her two minor children were rescued by authorities. Aside from her own children, her five-year-old grandchild was likewise rescued. As per the report of the NBI, the transaction was discovered after an Australian client of the suspect was arrested by authorities.
