The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) confiscated around 183 kilos of undocumented frozen meat products from a store in Makati City.

The operation was featured in GMA News’ Unang Balita. The seized items included black chicken, yellow chicken, beef slices, and rolls that reportedly came from China.
According to the report, the products were considered undocumented because they had not gone through the required inspection process. This raised concerns over where the meat came from and how it had been handled before reaching the store.
NMIS also pointed out that proper storage is important for frozen meat products. Without complete documentation, authorities cannot easily confirm whether the products were kept under the right conditions throughout transport and storage.

An NMIS representative explained the possible danger of meat products that do not have proper records.
“Maybe yung handling nila, yung storage ay hindi tama na pwedeng maka-contaminate ng produkto. So magiging health hazard ito,” the representative said.
Being undocumented does not automatically mean a product is spoiled. However, without proper documents and inspection, authorities cannot verify key information about its origin and whether proper procedures were followed.
The seized frozen products are set to undergo proper disposal so they will no longer be sold or consumed.
The report also noted that both imported and locally sourced meat products need proper documentation. Without it, authorities may not be able to establish their exact origin or confirm whether they passed the necessary inspection.
Frozen meat also needs to be maintained at appropriate temperatures to preserve its quality. This is why NMIS raised concerns about products whose handling and storage history cannot be verified.
No statement from the owner of the Makati store was included in the Unang Balita report regarding the confiscated products.

The incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a report by EJ Gomez on GMA’s Unang Balita. CCTV footage showed a man wearing a cap climbing the stairs leading to the house. He stood near the gate and appeared ready to open it when an alarm suddenly went off.
