The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a content creator from Cebu for allegedly spreading fake news regarding President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s statements on dr*gs.

During a press briefing, NBI Director Jaime Santiago emphasized that the agency is intensifying its crackdown on individuals who spread misinformation.
“We will take serious steps na dito sa mga vloggers na ito, mga nagspi-spread ng fake news,” Santiago stated.
The screenshot shared by Santiago showed a comparison between the statement of PBBM, and the altered statement.

The fake statement even had the same format as that with News5.
It was about PBBM's statement concerning the war on dr&gs, highlighting the beliefs of what can arrest the problem.
The suspect was presented to the media in a video shared by ABS-CBN, wearing sunglasses and a mask to conceal her identity.
Reporters asked if she had financially benefited from spreading false information, to which she admitted earning money but insisted it was only a small amount.
Authorities have yet to disclose the specific charges against the content creator, but the case highlights the government’s efforts to hold accountable those responsible for spreading misleading information online.
The ABS-CBN report also highlighted that there was another content creator who has a standing warrant of arrest.
News, photos or videos that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media, due to the attention netizens give them. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people, making them very relatable to just about simply everyone.
