Joy Barcoma opened up about her views on love and the values that have helped keep her eight-year relationship with her boyfriend, Cong, strong.

The beauty queen and “Unang Hirit” host appeared on the Kapuso morning show on Friday, September 11, where she entertained viewers with her thoughts on relationships and her own experience in love.
Before entering the studio, Joy made a playful red-carpet-style entrance from the GMA Network Center entrance, seemingly inspired by GMA Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, who made a similar entrance during her previous appearance on the program.
She was welcomed by hosts Shaira Diaz and Suzi Abrera, along with “Barangay Love Stories” host Papa Dudut. After her entrance was praised, Joy jokingly compared herself to Annette.

“Maraming salamat po! Ma'am Annette, ako po, Ma'am Aning lang po ako.”
During the interview, Joy shared her personal belief about relationships, saying that love should be for one person.
“Marami po tayong kasabihan tungkol sa pag-ibig, pero ako po ay naniniwala na ang pagmamahal ay para lamang sa isa, kasi kung dalawa 'yan, hindi po 'yan relationship, networking 'yan!”
Joy also revealed that she feels fortunate in love, having been with Cong for eight years.
“Naniniwala po ako sa suwerte at tinamaan na ako ng suwerte. Eight years na po kami ng aking minamahal,” she said.
For Joy, trust is one of the most important foundations of their relationship.
“Pinakaimportante for us is trust. Tiwala talaga sa isa't isa kasi kung walang tiwala, wala nang pundasyon 'yung relasyon,” she shared.
She also highlighted their mutual support and explained that trust, respect, and love have helped strengthen their relationship.
“Very supportive naman siya sa ginagawa ko, as well as me; very supportive din sa kanya,” Joy said.
“Yung gitna ng pagiging supportive na yun is yung tiwala namin sa isa't isa, so I think that's the most important part, and also respect and love,” she added.
When asked to choose between love and career, Joy answered with humor.
“Para po sa akin mas mahalaga po ang love… love for career,” she quipped.
She added that Cong understands the demands of her career.
“Nakakaintindi naman po ang aking partner, lalo po sa panahon ngayon sinasabi na 'Mahal ang magmahal.'”
Joy also sought advice from Papa Dudut about couples who go through the so-called “3, 5, 7 itch,” or challenging periods in long-term relationships.
Papa Dudut emphasized the importance of communication, spending time together, and honesty. He said these can help couples overcome challenges and maintain a stronger relationship over time.
