The grim discovery along the Marilaque Highway in Barangay Laurel, Santa Maria, Laguna, has prompted an intensive police investigation.
Reports from the Santa Maria police indicate that the unsettling discovery was made around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A member of a local crime watch force initially reported the incident.
The sequence of discoveries began when a motorcycle rider, passing along the highway, detected a strong, foul odor.

Upon investigation, the rider found a severed human leg discarded on the side of the road.
Responding officers from the Santa Maria police arrived at the scene and conducted a more thorough search of the vicinity.
Approximately 100 meters from the initial finding, they discovered another body part, suspected to be a leg, wrapped in a plastic garbage bag. The remains were already in a state of decomposition.
Law enforcement personnel have initiated a comprehensive search of the surrounding area, seeking to locate any additional missing body parts.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) have also been deployed to the location to conduct a forensic examination of the recovered remains.
The primary focus of the ongoing investigation is to identify the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding their death.
Investigators are working to piece together the events that led to the dismemberment and disposal of the body along the Marilaque Highway.
The Marilaque Highway, known for its scenic views and popularity among motorcycle riders, has now become the site of a disturbing crime.
The incident has raised concerns within the local community, and authorities are committed to pursuing all leads to bring those responsible to justice.

Still in other news, a 13-year-old girl was found lifeless and without any clothes on in a chapel in Baybay City, Leyte. According to Brigada news Philippines, the girl's body was found past 9 am, on Monday, March 17, right under the altar of a chapel. Her father revealed that she has been missing since Saturday, March 15, and that on that day, he left home at 6 am for an important errand. He also said that she was able to chat with him at 8 am, and she even requested for a fried chicken, but when came home at noon, his daughter is nowhere.
