Authorities in Cebu arrested a couple for allegedly selling their 2-week-old baby for more than P50,000.

The shocking revelation came to light after one of their children mentioned the alleged sale to a playmate, who then informed his or her mother.

The concerned mother promptly reported the incident to authorities, leading to the baby's rescue and the couple's arrest.

According to a report by GMA News, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is investigating the possibility that this was not the first time the woman had sold a child.

It was discovered that the baby in question was the couple’s eighth child, raising suspicions that similar transactions may have occurred in the past.

Following the report from the concerned citizen, law enforcement officers swiftly took action, resulting in the safe recovery of the infant.

The couple now faces charges related to human traff1cking and child expl0itation.

The rescued baby is now under the care of social welfare services, while authorities continue their investigation into the couple’s alleged involvement in child traff1cking.

Law enforcement officials are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help protect vulnerable children from exploitation.

The siblings of the rescued infant are now under the care of other relatives, who are also being supervised by the DSWD.
