While Alma expressed her absolute support for allowing mothers and older women to compete, her stance on the inclusion of transgender women has sparked intense conversations about tradition, biology, and fairness in competitions.

According to a Bandera report published online, Alma believes that motherhood fundamentally elevates a woman's journey.

“Kasi sometimes, parang motherhood makes you better. First, mas lumalalim yung knowledge mo, kumbaga mas nagiging rich yung experience mo,” Alma explained passionately.

However, when the topic shifted to transgender participants, who have been proudly representing countries like Spain and Brazil in recent years, Alma politely but firmly expressed her reservations. She likened the strict qualifications of global beauty pageants to the rigid biological categories of major sporting events.

“Yung sa trans naman, okay, may nag-join na di ba, ni Miss Spain or Miss Brazil. So medyo na-off lang ako kasi parang tingin ko kasi sa pageantry, it’s like the Olympics,” Alma noted.

At the absolute core of her argument is her deeply held belief regarding what constitutes the full experience of womanhood. For Alma, the biological ability to bear children and the unique life experiences that come with being a mother and a wife are irreplaceable aspects of the female identity. She challenged the modern narrative with a highly thought-provoking question about life's natural milestones.

“Kasi paano mo mari-reach yung full essence of a woman if you cannot give birth, di ba? So parang kailangan ma-embody mo yung full essence of a woman, hindi lang sa utak, pati yung paano ka maging asawa, paano ka maging mother,” Alma firmly stated.

Despite the polarizing nature of her statements, Alma quickly cleared the air to prevent any unnecessary hate or misunderstanding. She emphasized that she holds no ill will toward the transgender community and considers herself a strong, proud ally. For Alma, it is simply a matter of preserving the original essence and established boundaries of the competition.

“Oo naman. Kasi ang sa akin, para fair lang, di ba? Kumbaga, meron lang tayong boundaries, meron lang tayong limitations,” Alma clarified, ensuring her point was rooted in fairness rather than prejudice.

As the internet remains divided over her viral remarks, Alma's bold statements have undoubtedly forced pageant enthusiasts, organizers, and casual viewers to deeply reflect on the future of these competitions. Whether one agrees with her traditional views or completely opposes them, Alma's fearless willingness to speak her mind proves that the true essence of a queen lies in her unwavering courage to stand by her own convictions.
