A missing Slovak tourist was discovered dead and without a bra in an abandoned chapel on the well-known Boracay Island.

Authorities reported that the 23-year-old victim, Michaela Mickova, had been missing for two days before her body was found on Wednesday afternoon in an abandoned chapel in Barangay Balabag, Malay town.

“We will leave no stone unturned until the perpetrators of the heinous crime against Michaela Mickova have been brought to justice,” stated the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6).

“It is our foremost priority and goal to deliver justice to the family and loved ones of Michaela Mickova - a beloved daughter, a friend to many, and a young woman who has a passion for life,” the statement continued.

In a separate statement, the Aklan Police Provincial Police Office confirmed that the Malay Municipal Police Station is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Mickova’s death.

“The authorities are working diligently to gather all relevant information and evidence to determine the cause of death and identity of any potential suspect,” the statement added.

Despite the incident, police assured the public that Boracay remains a safe destination and announced plans to intensify patrols and visibility in the area.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV News, the chief of the Malay Municipal Police Station stated that on March 1, 2025, Mickova arrived on Boracay Island with a Slovak national for a vacation, but they stayed at different hotels.

Her companion reportedly grew concerned when she failed to return to the hotel and could not be reached, prompting him to report her missing to the police on March 10.
