Authorities in Naga, Camarines Sur, have identified the live-in partner of a female doctor who was fatally shot inside a vehicle as a person of interest, officials confirmed on Monday.

The tragic discovery was made on Sunday when a passerby came across the lifeless body of Dr. Rajen Monette Romualdez, covered in blood, inside the passenger seat of a parked car near Bicol Medical Center in Barangay Concepcion Pequeña.
Based on the initial findings of the Naga police, Romualdez, a Manila native, died from a gunshot wound to the head.
She had been undergoing her residency training at the hospital.

Investigators confirmed that the victim was last seen with her live-in partner before the incident occurred.
However, authorities have not been able to locate or contact the individual.
“Hanggang ngayon hindi natin siya makita. No contact,” said Naga Police spokesperson Lt. Col. Chester Pomar in a phone interview with News5.
Surveillance footage showed that the couple left their residence around 1:30 p.m., a timeline that closely aligns with when the shooting likely happened.
Authorities are still waiting for the results of Romualdez’s autopsy to further confirm details.
To encourage leads, the Naga city government has offered a P200,000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of the person of interest.
“I have directed our authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operatives) is assisting to uncover the facts in this incident,” Naga Mayor Son Legacion announced on Facebook.

Based on the investigation, as reported by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, the tricycle tried to overtake a motorcycle. That was when it collided with a forward truck that was carrying motorcycles.
