In his speech, PBBM said that his father saw the little improvement that the Philippines enjoyed after it gained its independence.
“I once knew a man who saw what little had been achieved since independence,” PBBM said in his speech.
“In a land of people with the greatest potential for achievement, and yet they were poor,” he added.
PBBM said that the late president believed the Philippines and its people had the “greatest potential for achievement.”
The president also noted that his father got the job done with and without the needed support.
“But he got it done. Sometimes, with the needed support, sometimes without,” he added.
President BBM then made a vow to follow the path that his father took towards nation building and said he would offer no excuses to get the job done.
“So will it be with his son. You will get no excuses from me,” President BBM said.
Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, also popularly known as BBM, is a Pinoy politician famous for being the only son of the late President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos. He served as Ilocos governor from 1998 to 2007 and then as congressman after stepping down as governor. He ran and won as senator in 2010 and ran but lost as vice-presidential candidate in 2016. He won by a massive landslide in the 2022 presidential elections and became the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines.
PBBM celebrity supporters Mariel Padilla and Toni Gonzaga took some selfies together before the latter's performance at Bongbong Marcos’ inauguration. At the said event, Toni performed her powerful rendition of the national anthem, “Lupang Hinirang.”
During the inauguration ceremony, Toni showed her singing prowess in front of dignitaries and other guests. A video of Toni singing “Lupang Hinirang” at the special event has gone viral online. The said clip also shows the new president and his family singing the national anthem solemnly. Many netizens praised Toni’s powerful rendition of the national anthem.
