Now recognized for her singing talent and recently gaining renewed attention for her song “Puwede Nang Mangarap,” Lyca shared that she initially imagined herself entering show business as a dancer.

During her October 6 appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the singer looked back on her childhood and recalled how she would participate in contests focused on dancing rather than singing.

Her perspective eventually changed after she watched Sarah Geronimo perform. Sarah would later become her coach when Lyca competed on The Voice Kids Philippines.

Lyca said seeing Sarah excel in both singing and dancing made her realize that she did not necessarily have to choose between the two talents.

From there, Lyca began joining singing competitions as well. Although she experienced defeats along the way, she came to understand that losing was simply part of her journey toward discovering where her talent could take her.

The singer also shared that she realized she could sing well when she was just six years old. Even at a young age, she was already comfortable singing wherever she went and enjoyed getting people's attention through her performances.
