The Delivery Boi actress discussed her return to teleserye through the Kapuso series, where she plays the mother of lead actor Will Ashley. According to Meryll, her character bears similarities to her real-life experiences, particularly her relationship with her eldest son, Elijah.
“Ako ang nanay na typical Filipina nanay na bungangera, maraming opinyon sa mga pamilya niya, maingay, and anak ko rito si Will [Ashley], together with Angellie Sanoy and Juharra [Asayo],” Meryll said.
She explained that the bond between her character and Will reminded her of the relationship she developed with Elijah during the years when she was raising him as a single mother.

“Very similar nga sa aking life. Kami ni Will, parang parehas kay Eli, 'yung bonding naming dalawang magnanay, we really have a certain bond from my single mom phase na, 'yung talagang magkakampi [kami],” she shared.
When Jeff Fernando asked about her experience of filling both parental roles, Meryll admitted that the responsibility was far from easy.
“Grabe ang hirap talaga; may bipolar na nga ako nagkaroon pa lalo ng bipolar kasi nanay at tatay ka, doble-kara. Ang hirap 'di ba?” she said jokingly.
Meryll further described the difficulty of balancing discipline with compassion when raising her children.
“I always have to pause; bago ko ilabas 'yung pagiging maldita ko na tatay na good cop, bad cop, because iniisip ko rin talaga 'yung compassion ko sa kanya na how we will take it. In a way; dumating din to a fault, kasi gusto mo siyang ma-nurture, nao-over din. Minsan, nakakalimutan ko na kailangan ko maging bruha,” she explained.

Despite the challenges, Meryll said she knows when to acknowledge her mistakes and apologize to her children.
“S'yempre kailangan. Marunong naman ako mag-sorry. Ang mga lumang mga parents hirap sila mag-sorry kasi sa panahon nila, hindi naga-apply 'yon,” the actress said.
She also emphasized that her journey as a single mother was never something she faced entirely on her own. Meryll credited her mother and other family members for helping care for Elijah, especially during the period when she went to London.
“Of course, with the help of my mom and my family. Umalis ako for London 'di ba? So talagang naiwan [si Eli] sa mom ko. Hindi naman ako 'yung parang ako lang mag-isa I give credit din sa family ko,” she revealed.
One of the most significant parenting lessons Meryll learned came from her own mother, particularly in how she handled the situation involving Meryll's father.
“I think ang pinaka-biggest takeaway ko sa pagpapalaki sa akin ng nanay ko with regards to my father, hindi siya ever nagsalita ng masama tungkol sa Papa ko. I try to applied that, 'yun ang isa sa mga conscious effort ko not to do this thing,” she said.
Meryll is the daughter of television host and actor Willie Revillame and Maria Victoria “Bec-Bec” Soriano, who is the sister of actress Maricel Soriano.
Her eldest son, Elijah, is from her previous marriage to actor Bernard Palanca. She is currently in a relationship with actor Joem Bascon, who also helps her raise their son Gido and Elijah.
Meryll Soriano is a multi-awarded Filipina actress who began her career as a child star and earned widespread critical acclaim for her powerful performances in both television and independent cinema. Coming from a prominent showbiz family as the daughter of actor-host Willie Revillame and the niece of iconic actress Maricel Soriano, she has cemented her legacy through memorable roles in projects like Room Boy, Donor, and Honor Thy Father.
In a related previous report that revisited one of the most difficult chapters of Meryll Soriano’s life, the actress opened up about how her past substance use eventually began affecting the work she deeply valued. Meryll recalled reaching a point when her drug use started interfering with her career and the responsibilities she held dear. She also revealed that she has maintained her sobriety for 19 years.
Meanwhile, Meryll Soriano also previously shared her emotional reaction when her father decided to run for the Senate.
