Ryza Cenon revealed the reasons behind her decision to shave her head for her role in the horror film Lilim, explaining that the transformation was part of her commitment to portraying her character as realistically as possible. Despite concerns that the drastic change in appearance could affect her opportunities in showbiz, the actress pushed for the decision because she believed it was necessary for the role.

During her November 2 appearance on Chika Cart, Ryza discussed the preparation that went into her portrayal and recalled how she became convinced that shaving her head was the best option. She also shared the challenges she encountered when the production initially considered using prosthetics.
The actress explained that she approaches every acting project with extensive research and character development, comparing her preparation to working on an academic thesis.

Her decision became even firmer after she saw the prosthetic bald cap during their look test. According to Ryza, the material would have made certain movements difficult, particularly during scenes requiring quick physical action.
Kasi kapag gumalaw ka nang mabilis, malulukot, so malilimitahan yung galaw mo,” she explained.
Rather than deal with the inconvenience of repeatedly having the prosthetics adjusted during filming, Ryza decided that completely shaving her head would give her greater freedom to perform.
However, getting approval for the transformation was not immediate. The actress personally approached her manager, Veronique Del Rosario-Corpus, to ask permission, but the proposal was initially rejected because of possible consequences for her career.
The actress understood the concern but remained willing to proceed. She also assured her manager that she could shoulder the expense of purchasing a wig whenever another project required her to have hair.
Eventually, her determination helped secure the approval she needed. Ryza also revealed that shaving her head was something she had wanted to experience even before receiving the opportunity to do it for a film.
“Bucket list ko kasi ang magpakalbo. Dati kasi, papakalbo dapat ako noong buntis ako.
Aside from her work in films, Ryza is preparing for another major television project as she makes her return to the Kapuso Network.
