Her short response did not directly criticize any celebrity or explain her position further.
The discussion began after Kim visited the Philippines for her birthday getaway in October.
The American reality star reportedly stayed at Amanpulo, a private island resort in Palawan. She also shared photos from her trip on Instagram, receiving welcome messages from Filipino celebrities and influencers.
However, the warm reception prompted some social media users to compare the attention given to Kim with the support shown for Forgotten Island.
One post on X asked, "where was all this energy for Forgotten Island?"
The question raised concerns about whether Filipino celebrities were showing the same enthusiasm for a Hollywood production featuring several Filipino talents.
Forgotten Island is a DreamWorks Animation movie inspired by Filipino folklore and mythology.
The film features Liza and Filipino-American singer H.E.R. as the voices of childhood best friends Raissa and Jo.
It also includes Lea Salonga, who voices the Manananggal, along with Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto, and Jo Koy.
The movie follows two friends who enter a mysterious island filled with creatures from Filipino mythology. They must find their way home while facing the possibility of losing their memories of each other.
The debate also brought attention to how Filipino artists are supported when working on international projects.
Some netizens believed celebrities should have given more attention to the DreamWorks film, especially since it highlights Filipino culture and talent.
Others felt that welcoming a famous international visitor should not be viewed as a lack of support for local artists.
Anne Curtis was among the celebrities mentioned in the discussion after she left a welcome comment on Kim's Instagram post.
Liza Soberano (born Hope Elizabeth Soberano) is a Filipino-American actress and model who rose to widespread prominence starring in hit romantic-comedy television series like Forevermore and Dolce Amore. Having established herself as one of the Philippines' most popular entertainment figures, she has since expanded her career internationally into Hollywood film and television projects.
In another report, Liza Soberano reflected on her decision to leave behind a successful career in the Philippines as she pursued opportunities in Hollywood. The actress is set to star alongside H.E.R. in DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming film “Forgotten Island.” Liza shared that she hopes her journey will inspire fellow Filipinos to take chances on their own dreams and believe in their potential.
