Lyca recalled growing up in a family of nine siblings. Her father worked as a fisherman, while she helped her mother collect recyclable materials to earn additional money.

Despite attending school in the morning, she sometimes skipped afternoon classes to collect scrap materials because she wanted to contribute financially.

Didiskarte ako ng pera,” she recalled.

Her determination and singing talent eventually opened new doors in 2014, when she joined the first season of The Voice Kids Philippines at just nine years old.

Today, the renewed popularity of “Puede Nang Mangarap” has given her another reason to appreciate how far she has come, while her story continues to reflect the importance of family, perseverance, and faith in pursuing one's ambitions.
