"No, but he'd probably say, 'It's about time,'" she said.

Velasquez further imagined her father's response to her decision to stage what she considers her final major concert.

"He'd probably say, 'Yeah, okay na 'yan. It's been 40 years, siguro pahinga ka na,'" she said.

The singer also spoke about how much she continues to miss her father, who passed away in 2014. Throughout her career, he had consistently supported her musical pursuits and made it a point to attend her performances.

"Ever since I started, there's not a concert that he didn't attend, there's not a gig that he wasn't there. He was that supportive. He's always there," she recalled.

Her memories highlighted the important role her father played in her journey as a performer, from helping develop her singing abilities to standing by her throughout her career.

Aside from discussing her family, Velasquez revealed some details about the musical lineup for “Finale.” When Davila asked whether she would perform cover songs during the concert, the singer confirmed that these would be part of the show.

"Because I have some cover songs that I also made kind of popular," she said.

The interview also touched on Velasquez's physical preparations for the upcoming performances. Davila observed that the singer had lost weight, prompting her to explain that the change was partly related to getting ready for the concert.

However, Velasquez clarified that she did not intend to return to the weight she maintained when she was still single. She emphasized that her goal was to look presentable in her concert gown rather than become excessively thin.

"I don't wanna go back to that weight. That's too thin. I just want to look decent enough for a gown," she explained.

Velasquez is married to singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, and her upcoming performances mark a significant moment in her four-decade career.

The three-day “Finale” concert is scheduled for October 17 to 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The shows are expected to feature songs associated with the singer's enduring musical legacy, including cover songs that became popular through her interpretations.
