Barbie’s comments about Khalil recently gained attention, particularly after she described him positively following their work together in Honor Thy Mother. For Gabbi, however, the compliment did not come as a surprise because she believes people who meet Khalil naturally see the same qualities she has appreciated throughout their relationship.
“I'm not surprised. Like anyone who encounters Khalil always has good things to say about him, and I'm happy that Barbie was able to experience 'yung alaga ni Khalil 'cause he really is a good guy, and I'm happy that I'm able to share his pag-aalaga to other people,” Gabbi said during her appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Friday, October 9.
Khalil served as Barbie’s leading man in Honor Thy Mother and the film Saving Cherry. Their professional partnership allowed Barbie to experience firsthand the caring qualities that Gabbi has known for years.

Despite the repeated questions, Gabbi clarified that neither she nor Khalil takes offense when people bring up their plans for the future.
“Hindi naman namin minamasama. Parang for us, it's fine, it's fine talking about it because we're very open about it,” she said.
For now, the couple is not rushing into marriage. Instead, they are waiting for the right time, especially as both remain busy with their respective careers and other commitments.
“I mean, Khalil is so busy, I'm also busy, and so many things to do pa. But definitely we have an understanding na du'n naman papunta 'yun. It's just that we're looking lang for the right timing.”
Gabbi also revealed that she and Khalil have already talked about having children once they are married. According to her, Khalil has consistently made it clear that the decision ultimately belongs to her.
“He would always tell me na 'It's up to you, it's your body.' Parang siyempre may mga onting joke na 'Talaga, ang tagal pa? Pero it's up to you.' Parang pa-cute lang, pero at the end of the day, he really assures me na 'Your body, your timeline, your choice,'” she said.
Khalil’s approach appears to reflect the couple’s openness when discussing marriage and family. While they acknowledge that marriage is where their relationship is headed, Gabbi emphasized that they are allowing themselves to move forward at their own pace.
