In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the My Love Will Make You Disappear star expressed frustration over the reported move and argued that Discord is also widely used for legitimate activities. He pointed out that the platform serves thousands of people for work, education, and small businesses.

His comments came after the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) ordered Discord to appoint a resident agent in the Philippines to facilitate faster cooperation with law enforcement authorities.

The issue has drawn attention amid reports linking school shootings to extremist networks that allegedly used online platforms, including Discord, to influence young people toward violence. A third school shooting was recorded earlier this month at Banga National High School in South Cotabato.

Paulo contrasted the Philippines' reported approach with measures being considered or implemented elsewhere, particularly age verification.

“First world countries: Discord, add age verification. Philippines: Discord, bye.🤡,” Paulo wrote.

The actor then explained why he believed blocking the platform could have consequences for ordinary users who rely on it for everyday communication.

“People use Discord for work meetings, school, and running small businesses. Block it and they all get hit, while bad actors just move to another app,” he maintained.

Paulo acknowledged that protecting children should remain a priority but argued that removing access to one platform would not necessarily stop individuals involved in harmful activities.

“Child safety matters. So fix the actual problem, not just the easiest target!” he ended.

Several fans supported Paulo's position in the replies to his post. One commenter criticized what they described as solutions that fail to address the underlying issue, while another argued that people involved in harmful activities could simply transfer their communications to other messaging platforms if Discord were blocked.
