According to a report by ABS-CBN, the 23-year-old actress, who confirmed nearly six months ago that she was single following her breakup with actor Harvey Bautista, shared the revelation during a media event for her film Saving Cherry.

When asked about the craziest thing she had ever done for love, AC admitted that she remained in a relationship despite realizing that it was already taking an emotional toll on her.

“I stayed. I stayed when it was so bad. because I loved the person. And I thought he would change. I thought he loved me enough to also change and fix himself. Nag-stay talaga ako until I lost myself. That’s the craziest thing I’ve done for love,” she shared.

Her comments came as Saving Cherry tackles complicated relationship issues, including infidelity. AC was then asked about her thoughts on people who cheat on their partners.

“I think it’s simple. I think we’ve all been on the same page, but no they obviously don’t deserve a second chance. At the same time, why would you even allow yourself to be with the person who would cheat on you? I think it’s more of on yourself and do you deserve another person that could do that to you type of thing,” she explained.

In the movie, AC portrays Ingrid, a conservative member of the friend group who tries to guide her friends toward making the right decisions.

Despite playing someone considerably different from her personality, AC said she had some advice for her character.

“I play Ingrid here, your conservative friend who wants to protect you, but will also be there for you through all of it. Me and Ingrid are very opposite kasi. I’m very out there, very straightforward. Siguro my advice for Ingrid, I’d tell her just to let loose and allow herself to shine because she’s still trying to find herself and siguro na-i-influence din siya sa barkada niya or whoever is around her. But she just needs to find herself. And she slowly does with this friendship,” she added.

AC also spoke warmly about working with Barbie Forteza, Mika Salamanca, Sassa Gurl, and Mikee Quintos for the first time.

She recalled that the cast initially had some awkward moments during their look test, but their relationship eventually developed into a genuine friendship.

“During the look test you could tell na awkward kami. Direk was like, ‘Dance together! Adlib!’ But one of the memorable moments on the set, there was one time sa taping na I was going through something and I was off, but I was trying my best to keep it in and not show it. But because of our connection, parang na-sense nila agad eh. And my initial plan was to finish work, be professional, go home, and cry it out.
“But then, they were all like, ‘No, let’s all hang out. Let’s just sit and talk.‘ I was there and I was thinking if I was going to tell them what I’m going through. Until eventually lumabas na siya and umiyak kaming lahat. We were all crying together and I was like, wow, I did not know that this was where my night was going to go, but it was one of the best memories ever during the movie,” she recalled.

For AC, the experience became one of the most meaningful parts of making the film because she felt accepted by the people around her.

“I never felt so safe on a movie set or just in general, just to feel so comfortable with everyone. Like not even just the people here, but with our staff, with our production, lahat talaga pamilya na nag-e-enjoy kami dun. Maririnig mo si direk tumatawa habang nag-si-scene, or everyone’s trying to keep it in and holding it in until mag-cut si direk. It’s like we’ve created something so beautiful and I hope it really resonates to you guys when you watch it!” she admitted.

Saving Cherry also stars Barbie Forteza, Mika Salamanca, Mikee Quintos, Sassa Gurl, JC Alcantara, and Khalil Ramos. The film is directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal under Regal Films and is currently showing in cinemas nationwide.
