Ogie Diaz opened up about his experience watching a Filipino film that failed to meet his expectations, revealing that he gave the movie a rating of only 1/5 after managing to finish it despite repeatedly considering walking out.

In a social media post, Diaz discussed the awkward situation he sometimes encounters after attending movie premieres, particularly when he does not genuinely enjoy the film.
Diaz explained that he avoids giving an outright negative response when cameras suddenly approach him outside the cinema and ask whether he liked the movie.
“Hindi mo naman pwedeng sabihing, ‘Hindi. Hindi maganda.’” he said.

Noting that he understands that producers would not use such comments in promotional advertisements.
Instead, Diaz said he would either politely decline to comment or direct people to his vlog for his full thoughts.
“Juice ko, hindi talaga ako mapipilit,” Diaz added.
He said that rather than declaring that a film was bad or that watching it was a waste of money, he would simply mention the scenes that he genuinely found entertaining.
“Kesa sabihing pangit o sayang lang ang pera, dinadampot ko na lang kung alin sa eksena ang natuwa o naaliw ako,” he shared.
Diaz also admitted that he sometimes chooses this approach because he does not want to hurt the feelings of the people behind a production.
“Kesa sumama pa ang loob sa akin ng mga producer sa akin,” he said.
The media personality then recalled watching an unnamed Filipino movie that had been highly praised by a well-known critic whom he described as particularly difficult to please.
“Pinanood ko kasi grabe ang papuri dito ng isang kritikong kilalang laitero at ang hirap i-please,” Diaz wrote.
Despite the strong endorsement, however, Diaz said he struggled to appreciate the film and had to push himself to finish it.
“Pero juice ko, nakaya kong tapusin kahit ka-walk out-walk out ang pelikula, sa totoo lang,” he admitted.
Rather than questioning the critic's judgment, Diaz said he considered the possibility that they simply had different preferences when it came to movies.
“Mas iniisip ko na lang na baka gandang-ganda talaga yung naturang kritiko at magkaiba lang talaga kami ng taste sa mga hinahanap na sangkap ng isang pelikulang panonoorin,” he explained.
Diaz chose not to identify the film, but he made a striking observation about its stars. According to him, even the actors themselves did not appear eager to promote the movie because they were reportedly disappointed with the outcome.
“Pasensya na, hindi ko na mababanggit ang pelikulang ito na kahit yata ang mga bida ay hindi mo aasahang i-promote ito, dahil sila mismo, na-disappoint,” he said.
Diaz further criticized the film's execution, saying the cast seemed to enjoy their own scenes without successfully bringing the audience into the experience.
“Eto yung pelikulang sila-silang cast lang ang nagkakaalaman kumbakit aliw na aliw sila sa mga pinaggagagawa nilang eksena, pero nakalimutan nilang isali ang audience, kaya wala tuloy audience reaction,” he wrote.
Despite his disappointment, Diaz emphasized that he and his companions still spent money to watch the film because they wanted to support the local movie industry.
“280x5 pax ang ibinayad namin kasi gusto naming makatulong sa industriya,” Diaz revealed.
However, he jokingly admitted that they might have been better off spending the money on their own gathering.
“pero sana, ikinape na lang namin para nakapagtsikahan at pinatawa na lang namin ang isa’t isa..”
Diaz ultimately gave the unnamed film a rating of 1/5, making clear just how strongly it failed to match his personal expectations.
