The Kapuso Comedy Genius delivered his speech on August 28 during the third session of PLM’s graduation ceremonies, which honored graduates from the College of Education, College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Science.

His message centered on one of the biggest forces shaping the future: artificial intelligence.

In his commencement speech, which PLM shared on social media, Michael V. acknowledged the growing role of AI while urging the graduates to focus on the qualities that technology cannot simply replicate.

He encouraged them to continue developing their ability to imagine, solve problems, care for others, lead, and create meaningful change.

“Yes, AI will probably be here to stay but remember: machines can never live your life for you. Hindi nito kayang mangarap para sa’yo. Hindi nito kayang magmahal para sa’yo. Hindi nito kayang magdesisyon kung anong klaseng tao ang gusto mong maging dahil ikaw lang ang makakagawa noon,” he said.

He explained that although AI can assist people in different areas of their lives, it cannot take the place of their aspirations, relationships, personal values, and decisions.

Michael V. then summed up his reminder to the graduates with a line that underscored the importance of remaining grounded despite technological progress.

“Use technology but don’t lose your humanity,” he reminded the graduates.

Beyond discussing AI, Michael V. also urged the graduates to put their education and skills to meaningful use. He encouraged the Class of 2026 to make a difference, especially in the lives of their fellow Filipinos.
