He explained that the conditions experienced by Filipinos can be influenced by decisions made during elections, particularly when voters choose the people who will govern and make decisions for the country.
Vice then brought up the plight of residents whose homes and communities had been affected by flooding. He suggested that some voters may have made election-related decisions in exchange for money, pointing to a situation where a person's vote could eventually have consequences beyond the election itself.
“Alam ninyo, yung mga binabaha, di ba? Marami diyang binaha na kaya kayo binaha kasi yung tuyong bahay ninyo bumenta ninyo ng 5,000 nung eleksyon. Di ba? Sa ₱5,000, pumayag kayong pasukin ang bahay ninyo. No Filipino deserves that—yung masalanta ng bagyo," she said.
The comedian's statement connected the immediate suffering caused by flooding with the broader responsibility of voters to carefully evaluate the leaders they elect.
Although Vice did not identify a particular candidate or political personality in his remarks, his message was clear: Filipinos should be more critical and thoughtful when deciding who deserves their vote.
