“Nakita ko lahat ng posts ngayong araw tungkol sa baha, mga bahay na lumubog, malalang traffic, at mga taong hindi makauwi. Hindi nga dapat normal ang ganito. NAKAKAGALIT. Ilang taon nang paulit-ulit na nangyayari. Kailan ba tayo uunlad?” she said.

The heavy rains were brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat, which caused flooding in parts of Metro Manila and other affected provinces.

For Tolentino, the repeated occurrence of flooding and other problems should prompt Filipinos to examine how leaders are chosen and held accountable.

She shifted her message toward the upcoming elections, encouraging social media users to make better use of the platforms they access every day.

“Lahat naman tayo nandito na sa social media. Araw-araw, nakasubsob tayo sa mga cellphone natin. Sana gamitin din natin yung access na yan para mag-research, magtanong, at alamin kung sino talaga ang mga karapat-dapat nating iboto sa susunod.”

Tolentino stressed that voters should look beyond campaign promises and instead examine the track record and platforms of candidates before making a decision.

“Hindi yung puro pangako lang. Tingnan niyo kung nasaan tayo ngayon. Hindi ba kayo nagagalit??”

The actress clarified that she respects people who have carefully studied the candidates they support, even when their choices differ.

“May respeto ako sa mga taong alam at naiintindihan ang plataporma at track record ng pulitikong sinusuportahan nila. Hindi naman kailangang pare-pareho tayo ng iboto.”

However, she questioned voters who support candidates simply because of their surname, political alliances or the popularity of their families.

She also cited statements such as “Hindi ko alam… basta siya,” “Ka-alyado niya kasi,” and “Magaling kasi tatay niya…” as examples of reasons that she believes should not be enough when choosing a leader.

Tolentino also addressed those who have decided not to vote because they believe all politicians are corrupt.

“UTANG NA LOOB. GUMISING NA KAYO.”

Ultimately, the actress reminded Filipinos that voters themselves have a role in determining who will lead the country.

“Hindi sapat ang apelyido, alyansa, o mga pangako. Dapat alam natin kung BAKIT natin sila ibinoboto. Satin din magsisimula ang pagbabago."

She ended by emphasizing the severity of the flooding and the painful impact it can have on ordinary Filipinos who lose property and the results of years of hard work.

"To think na hindi malalang bagyo to. ANO NA!? Ang sakit sa puso na makita mo ang lahat ng pinagpaguran mo, inanod na ng baha."

In another report, John Arcilla criticized voters who continue to support politicians whom he described as corrupt. The actor connected people’s political choices to the deaths and flooding that have affected communities amid the monsoon rains. He explained that he wants the taxes he pays to benefit fellow Filipinos, which is one of the reasons he continues to speak out on government issues. John also reiterated that he would rather criticize and hold the government accountable than pursue a career in public office himself.

Meanwhile, Joy Barcoma took part in relief operations in Kawit, Cavite, as persistent rains caused widespread flooding in several communities. During the effort, she witnessed an evacuation center being affected by floodwaters despite its purpose of serving as a safe place for residents. The former Miss Earth Philippines then urged Filipinos to be more careful when choosing leaders in the 2028 elections. Joy connected wiser electoral decisions with the need to address recurring flooding and the problems faced by communities affected by it.
