Richard Gomez has shared his thoughts on the reported relationship between his daughter, Juliana Gomez, and basketball player Ricci Rivero.

In an exclusive interview with Abante, the actor-politician was asked whether he approved of Juliana and Ricci being together from the beginning.

Richard said he had no problem seeing the two spend time and go out together. He explained that his daughter is already old enough to handle her personal life.

“Wala namang problema sa akin kung nakikita sila na dalawa, lumalabas sila. Alam mo, si Juliana is of age already, and wala namang bawal,” he said.

While he does not interfere with her decisions, the celebrity father still gave Juliana a clear rule regarding courtship.

According to Richard, he told his daughter that any man who wanted to pursue her should do so properly at their home.

“Basta sinabi ko sa kanya noong una, kung manliligaw sa iyo ’yung lalaki, doon siya manligaw sa bahay,” he stated.

The congressman was also asked whether Ricci had spoken to him before pursuing Juliana. The question came after photos showed the basketball player spending time with the Gomez family.

Richard recalled learning that a basketball player was courting his daughter. He was already familiar with Ricci because he had watched him play during his time with the University of the Philippines.

“Nalaman ko talaga na may nanliligaw pala sa kanya na basketball player. Oo nga, oo nga. Kasi napapanood ko sila dati noong player pa sila sa UP,” he shared.

When asked whether he had warned Ricci not to hurt his daughter, Richard said he had not issued such a warning.

Instead, the actor said he was content as long as he could see that Juliana and Ricci were happy.

“Hindi naman. Basta nakikita ko lang sila na masaya. Okay na ako,” he said.

The interview did not include a direct confirmation from Juliana or Ricci about the exact status of their relationship. However, the two athletes have been seen together several times.

In January 2026, dating rumors emerged after they were filmed walking hand in hand at a mall. Ricci was also seen supporting Juliana during her fencing competition at the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

He later joined Juliana and Richard for lunch in March. They were spotted holding hands again following a PBA game in April, according to GMA News.

Richard had previously revealed on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” that his daughter had introduced a new suitor during a family dinner. At the time, however, he did not publicly identify the person.
