Maui Taylor spoke highly of Jay Manalo and described him as caring and respectful while they worked together on sensitive scenes.

The actress appeared as a resource person on the July 25 episode of “Your Honor,” where host Chariz Solomon asked about her experiences with male co-stars.

Chariz wanted to know whether Maui had encountered an actor who failed to follow their agreed blocking or went beyond the boundaries established before filming.

Maui immediately answered that she had not experienced such behavior from her co-stars. She named Wendell Ramos, Antonio Aquitania, Jay Manalo, and Jordan Herrera among the actors she had worked with.

“Wala akong na-encounter na co-actor, wala talaga. In all fairness talaga sa mga co-actors ko,” she said.

The former “Lolong” actress explained that her co-stars respected the director’s instructions during their scenes.

“Lahat ng sinabi ni direk, ‘eto lang, eto lang.’ Walang lumilihis doon,” she added.

Among the actors she mentioned, Maui gave special praise to Jay for being particularly thoughtful and professional. She recalled how the seasoned actor made sure that they discussed their movements before filming.

“Tsaka maalaga si Kuya Jay actually, maalaga siya sa mga eksenang ganiyan,” Maui shared.

According to the actress, Jay would clearly explain what he planned to do so that she would know what to expect during the scene. He also suggested camera-friendly movements that could make their acting look convincing while keeping their agreed boundaries intact.

Maui said this helped them feel more prepared and allowed them to complete the scene efficiently.

“Tapos sabi niya sa akin, galingan na natin para one take lang,” she recalled.

The celebrity said she later adopted the same approach whenever she had to film demanding scenes. She believed that giving their best in one take could prevent the cast and production team from repeating a difficult sequence several times.

Maui also remembered how Jay would personally help cover her after the director called cut. Although production staff were already waiting nearby to assist, she appreciated the actor’s thoughtful gesture.
