Barbie Imperial admitted that working alongside Richard Gutierrez in the ABS-CBN action-drama Blood vs Duty changed the way she approaches her craft, while Richard also shared what impressed him most about his co-star during months of filming.

The two Kapamilya stars reflected on their experience together during the media conference for the show's finale, where they spoke about the lessons they learned from each other despite already knowing one another before the project.

In Blood vs Duty, Barbie portrays Jamillah Abubakar, the younger sister of Gerald Anderson's character Jalil Abubakar, while Richard plays Agent Marcus Reyes, the head of Task Force Alpha.

For Barbie, one of the biggest takeaways from working with Richard was realizing the importance of studying every aspect of a role. She revealed that the series marked the first time she became fully invested in watching every episode she appeared in.

“Actually, ito yung serye na sobrang tutok talaga ako, as in. It’s also my first serye na pinapanood ko bawat eksena, ‘yung bawat episode. I’ve learned it from Chard kasi siya sobrang lahat ng details ng nasa script, as in iniisa-isa niya talaga.”

She said Richard's commitment inspired her to become more meticulous in preparing for every scene and understanding her character.

“Dito sa series, because of him, I learned from him na kailangan kong pagtuunan ng pansin talaga ng sobra ‘yung role na binibigay sa akin.”

Richard, meanwhile, said the demanding nature of producing a television series made it important to have dependable co-stars on set. Since they frequently worked together throughout the production, he appreciated having someone he could rely on during long taping days.

“It was a great experience working with her on the set. Syempre, ‘yung teleserye hindi madaling gawin ‘yun eh, especially sa mga lead characters who are doing a lot of scenes and taping days. It’s always good to have someone on your side na pwede mong lapitan or lean on ‘pag may problema.”

He added that sharing the same schedule helped strengthen their working relationship and contributed to a positive environment during filming.

“It’s nice to be working with her and we’re sharing the same schedule also. Naging okay ‘yung experience namin, even on set naging maayos naman ‘yung experience namin. Of course, with the guidance of our directors, our producers, and our co-actors din.”

As Blood vs Duty concludes its run, both actors said the project left them with valuable professional lessons and a deeper appreciation for teamwork on set.
